Comet
or Alien Spaceship?
New
Images and NASA Statement on 3I/ATLAS
·

On December
19, the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS will reach its closest point to Earth.
Shortly before, several new images of the object were released. NASA has now
also commented on the alien speculation. Speed: approximately 245,000
kilometers per hour. This is the highest speed ever recorded for an
interstellar object. Possibly the largest interstellar object recorded in our
solar system. NASA would "like to find signs of life." For several
weeks, NASA released no new information on 3I/ATLAS. This was due to the
shutdown in the USA. This official silence fueled further speculation that
3I/ATLAS could be an alien spaceship – not least because of its many anomalies.
At the same time, some suspected that the government agency had something to
hide. Perhaps the most famous scientist who keeps the UFO theory alive is
Abraham Loeb, an astrophysicist at Harvard University. He recently announced
that there are already a total of 13 anomalies surrounding the interstellar
visitor...

Liftoff!
Rocket Lab launches JAXA's RAISE-4 satellite from New Zealand

Unedited
transcript: A Rocket Lab
Electron rocket launched
JAXA's RAISE-4 satellites from New Zealand on Dec. 13, 2025 (Dec.
14 - local time). Successful liftoff for Electron from launch
complex one. Rising and shining and on its way to space with Jax's raise 4 mission. Next, we'll be listening in for confirmation that
Electron has passed through Max
Q, the point of maximum aerodynamic pressure. Once through Max Q, the
rocket will have endured the peak structural load during ascent. And those
loads will continue to ease as Electron climbs higher and higher
into space. Approaching Max Q. Cleared. Max Q. HVB discharge nominal. And
there's the call out for Max Q. Now those Rutherford engines are back at full
power as Electron continues to climb. We are at 19 km
above the launch pad and traveling at more than 2,300 km an hour. And coming up
on a series of maneuvers by Electron for its next phase of flight. First up is Miko or main engine cutoff when the nine Rutherford engines on Electron's first
stage shut down completely to allow for the next event. Right after Miko will
see stage separation followed by engine ignition on the second stage. Now the
engine will then continue to propel Electron and Rays 4 into orbit providing
the necessary thrust to overcome Earth's gravity and reach orbital velocity.
Now let's listen in for those call outs from mission control. entered burnout
detect mode. 15 seconds to staging. Mo confirmed. Stage separation confirmed.
Stage two ignition confirmed. Stage two guidance is going on. As you just
heard, that's Mo stage separation and second stage ignition confirmed
successfully by mission control. Next up, we can expect fairing jettison. We've
got a camera inside the fairing, so we should get a pretty good view of race 4
being exposed to space for the very first time. Fairing. Fairing jettison
confirmed. And that's raise four on your screen there. As Electron continues to
carry this mission to orbit. We have a few minutes between now and our next
milestone for Electron, which will be battery hot swap for the stage 2
Rutherford engine. For now, Electron is performing nominally, traveling at a
velocity of 8,500 km/h and currently at more than 133 km above Earth.

Hon Winston Peters delivers a statement on the Bondi Beach Terrorist Attack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT5n_E7fm3k
New Zealand
First - Uh we offer these brief reflections as the Minister of Foreign
Affairs and the leader of New Zealand First about the heinous events in Bondi
on Monday night. We should not mince our words. This was an
horrific and vile terrorist attack on Australia's Jewish community. We offer
our sincere condolences to all those affected and especially those who had
loved ones killed or badly injured in this barbaric attack. Religious people
should be able to gather peacefully to celebrate their faith. That is one of
the hallmarks of an open, democratic and free society. But in Sydney, just two
days ago, they were gunned down by a father and son motivated by anti-semitism and hate. Now, we stand in solidarity with
the Jewish community in Australia, New Zealand, and around the world at this
moment of deep pain. We also stand at this very difficult time with Australian
authorities as they have always done with us in our moments of national tragedy
here in New Zealand. We cannot be complacent. We too in the past few years have
witnessed our own incidents and examples of anti-semitism
and we should have absolutely no tolerance at all for it. Too often in recent
times rhetoric has been used whether from the river to the sea or globalizing
the interif which hasn't promoted understanding or
justice but rather praised and raised the temperature and caused division
between our communities. That was wrong before and it is wrong now. We have
always been opposed to the idea of importing far off conflicts into New Zealand
society especially in ways which create divisions and we remain so today. The
New Zealand government wants peace and harmony in our community here at home
and we are prepared to defend it…

Defence chief warns public to prepare for sacrifice
of their sons and daughters
Britain’s
most senior military officer has urged the country to adopt what he described
as a wartime mindset, warning that the possibility of a direct conflict with
Russia, while unlikely, cannot be entirely ruled out. Speaking at a lecture
hosted by the Royal United Services Institute on Monday, Chief of the Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton said
the risk of confrontation with Russian forces on British soil was “remote” but
stressed that it was not “zero.” His comments come amid a broader push by
several European nations to increase military readiness and defence
spending. Knighton argued that responding to modern security threats requires
more than simply expanding the armed forces. Instead, he said, national defence must involve the whole of society, with citizens
prepared to contribute in multiple ways if tensions escalate. “Sons and
daughters. Colleagues. Veterans… will all have a part to play. To build. To
serve. And if necessary, to fight. And more families will know what sacrifice for
our nation means,” he said. He warned that any major conflict would demand real
sacrifice, stating that families across the country may one day face the
reality of sons, daughters, colleagues and veterans being called upon to serve
— and, if necessary, to fight.

Hundreds
of illegal migrants attempt English Channel crossing
https://dailytelegraph.co.nz/news/hundreds-of-illegal-migrants-attempt-english-channel-crossing/
A new wave of
small boat crossings is underway in the English Channel, with hundreds of
migrants attempting the journey to the UK after people smuggling networks
exploited a brief break in poor weather. Sources told GB News that smugglers
used a narrow window of calmer conditions, lasting less than 12 hours, to
launch multiple inflatable boats from a wide stretch of the French coast.
Departures were reported from as far north as Dunkirk and as far south as Wissant, near Boulogne, covering around 60 miles of
shoreline. It is estimated that at least 400 people are currently attempting
the crossing, with some boats already reaching British waters. The surge
follows the arrival of 74 migrants in Dover late last night, transported by the
Border Force vessel Typhoon. That group included 15 women and one child.
Maritime security sources criticised smuggling gangs
for putting vulnerable people at risk by sending boats out in hazardous winter
conditions...

90 Epstein-linked flights to U.K. raise questions over trafficking oversight
An
investigation by British state media has found that nearly 90 flights linked to
convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein arrived at or departed from UK airports
over more than two decades, with records suggesting some British women who
later alleged abuse were among the passengers.
Analysis of flight logs and court documents indicates the UK was a significant
hub in Epstein’s operations, including at least 15 flights after his 2008
conviction for soliciting sex from a minor in the United States. Lawyers representing
hundreds of victims told British state media it was concerning that no
full-scale UK investigation has ever been launched, despite evidence pointing
to possible trafficking into and out of Britain. Three British women appear in
Epstein’s flight records, including one whose testimony helped secure the 2021
conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell, yet her lawyer says UK police have never
contacted her...

Thales
Launches Sonar 76Nano to Meet NATO Underwater Battlespace Requirements
Thales is
launching Sonar 76Nano, a compact, miniaturised
acoustic detection system designed to meet maritime security underwater sensing
requirements of NATO and the Royal Navy. Thales has taken Sonar 76Nano from
concept to prototype in 10 months, bringing new technology innovation but
exploiting the proven capability of its in-service Sonar 2076 system. The
company is revealing this new capability as NATO navies continue building up
North Atlantic sub-surface sensing presence. Such enhanced presence will augment
deterrence and defence against growing anti-submarine
warfare (ASW) threats. It will counter underwater-based threats to maritime
security tasks including ensuring maritime access, freedom of navigation, sea
lines of communication (SLOCs) security, and critical undersea infrastructure
(CUI) protection. NATO navies are acquiring maritime uncrewed systems as host
platforms for much of this increased sensing capacity. Thales has designed
Sonar 76Nano largely for such uncrewed systems. “Thanks to its modular and
flexible design, this sonar system can be deployed onboard a wider range of
uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) and seabed monitoring systems rather than
being limited to large, high-value platforms,” Thales said, in a statement on
15 December. Thales said Sonar 76Nano is platform-agnostic, designed
particularly for UUVs but applicable to fixed seabed sensing nodes and crewed
platforms. The system being reconfigurable for required platforms fits
illustrates its modular, versatile design architecture...

NSW Premier
signals tougher gun laws after Bondi
Chris Minns
say gun laws to change in wake of Bondi mass shooting
https://dailytelegraph.co.nz/world/nsw-premier-signals-tougher-gun-laws-after-bondi-terror-attack/
NSW Premier
Chris Minns has vowed to pursue firearms law reform following the Bondi Beach terror
attack, saying existing gun laws “need to change” after it emerged a deceased
gunman was licensed to own six weapons. Speaking in Sydney, Minns said
legislation was now being drafted and he was prepared to recall parliament,
stating the aim was “making it more difficult to get these horrifying weapons
that have no practical use in our community,” particularly outside farming or
agricultural needs, and warning current settings “put the public and police at
risk”. While stopping short of outlining specific measures, he said action was
imminent and intended to have a “lasting impact”. Meanwhile, Police
Commissioner Mal Lanyon confirmed authorities were examining the gun licences held by the suspect’s father as part of the
investigation, and said the firearms registry conducts thorough checks to
ensure licence holders are “fit and proper,” amid
reports the alleged shooter had previously been on Australian Security
Intelligence Organisation’s (ASIO) radar...

Terrorist attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach: 12 dead and 29 injured
·
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdIdKlNC89I
Twelve people
were killed in a shooting at Sydney's famous Bondi Beach, according to the New
South Wales Police Force. Twenty-nine others were reported injured, including
two police officers. One of the two suspected attackers died, while the other
remains in critical condition, police said. Investigations at the scene and
into the motives behind the attack are ongoing. Police found an explosive
device in a car, a police spokesperson said. "Given the circumstances of
tonight's attack (...), I am classifying this as a terrorist attack," he
added. The car containing the explosive device has been linked to the deceased
attacker. There is no official information yet on the identities of the
suspected attackers – it is unclear, for example, whether they acted alone or
belong to an organization. The situation is unclear…
One perpetrator is known by name: Naveed Akram, 24, an Australian citizen
with Pakistani roots…
A second perpetrator is in custody, but his identity and nationality have
not yet been officially confirmed.
🌐 Whatever
the reason behind it, it remains a creepy dark “Christmas market suspicion
effect”.

Kaiarahi
failure proves urgent need to retain emergency tug
The union
representing Kiwi seafarers says the technical failure of the Interislander ferry Kaiarahi in
the Cook Strait on Friday night is a “red flag” that the Government cannot
ignore, proving the need to keep an emergency ocean-going tug on standby. The Kaiarahi was forced to abandon its voyage and turn back to
Wellington on Friday 12 December after experiencing steering issues in the
Strait. Maritime Union of New Zealand National Secretary Carl Findlay says the
incident demonstrates exactly why the Union is demanding the retention of the
emergency response vessel MMA Vision. “We are currently relying on two aging
ferries to bridge the gap until 2029. The Kaiarahi
turning back due to technical failure is the latest warning sign, yet Transport
Minister Chris Bishop is moving to axe the MMA Vision contract months ahead of
schedule…

In-water
vessel cleaning technology trialed to tackle biofouling
https://dailytelegraph.co.nz/news/in-water-vessel-cleaning-technology-trialed-to-tackle-biofouling/
In-water
cleaning technology being used on a commercial vessel
hull at Auckland Port to manage biofouling. A new in-water vessel cleaning
system designed to help commercial ships meet New Zealand’s biofouling
requirements will be deployed in Auckland this summer, Biosecurity Minister Andrew
Hoggard says. The technology, co-developed by the Port of Auckland and New
Zealand Diving and Salvage Limited (NZDS) with support from Biosecurity New
Zealand, targets hard-to-clean areas of vessel hulls such as sea chests and
propeller shafts. These areas are considered high risk for the spread of
invasive marine organisms. Mr Hoggard said the system
offers a practical solution for spot cleaning vessels while they are in port,
reducing the need for offshore cleaning and minimising
disruption to passenger and cargo operations. Biosecurity New Zealand received
an application to use the technology in October and completed its assessment in
December, following successful trials on domestic vessels. Provisional approval
has now been granted, allowing the system to be used on arriving international
vessels over the summer period, including cruise ships...
